CF & Vegan Ulta Haul

CF & Vegan Ulta Haul

Recently I hauled some cruelty-free items from Marshalls. For me I think it is a little confusing that cruelty-free and vegan, being synonymous do not actually mean the same thing when it comes to the make-up and skincare industry. I am still learning and growing on this journey. To put it simply cruelty-free means that the product is not tested on animals. Vegan means that the product contains no animal bi-products. So idealy you want to find products that are both. This may seem a little daunting, but the reality of it is you may just need to take an extra 5 minutes shopping to do some on the fly research and googling. Even if you do not follow a vegan diet do you really want to support animal cruelty over something as unessential as makeup?

My suggestion is to check for these logos that indicate a form of cruelty free certification. Unfortunately any company can write cruelty-free on a product label even if the product is not cruelty free, this is not regulated!

Personally I choose to buy from cruelty-free brands as they are more transparent about which of their products are 100% vegan friendly and which are not. Personally I have been finding the Cruelty Free Kitty Blog highly helpful in transitioning veganism beyond my diet into all of my consumer decisions. Check out this post about what Ulta brands are cruelty free. Here is what I picked up on my most recent Ulta trip, organized by brand.

Tarte

Amazonian Clay Waterproof Brow Pencil- shade rich brown $21.00

I had previously used the Anastasia Brow Wiz, which is possibly vegan but I chose to transition to this since it definitely is! Pretty much the same product if you ask me so I reached for the one with the vegan label to support that kind of marketing. All the vegan Tarte products at my local Ulta were marked with a green V if they were vegan. More brands need to step it up and do this for easy shopping.

Too Faced

Better Than Sex mascara $23.00

I have always been asked if I was wearing false eyelashes ever since I was little. Since it seemed to me that my eyelashes are one of my best features I'm always on the hunt for the best mascara to accent them. I've stuck with this mascara for a couple of years and nothing has compared.

Mario Badescu

Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater- 2 fl oz for $5.00

I love to use this as a setting spray and a refreshing mist whenever I need it! I also love this brand's drying lotion for when I have breakouts.

Pacifica

Hot Vegan Probiotic & Spice Rehab Mask $15.00

Coconut Probiotic Water Rehab Cream $16.00

Cactus Water Makeup Removing Wipes $6.00

I used to always reach for Nuetrogena for all of my skincare needs and I hate to admit that I do love their face wipes. However, they are not even cruelty free and Pacifica is 100% vegan. To be honest every new Pacifica product I have tried is amazing and much better than the drugstore products I put on my skin for years. My only regret is that I didn't find them sooner (thanks Geneva). Not to mention everything smells amazing and the packaging is adorable.

As always I hope you have enjoyed this post. Whats your favorite CF & Vegan product? Leave me a comment below.
