Travel & Life Update

Travel & Life Update

Happy Sunday wanderers!

As decided by an Instagram poll, this weeks post is an update on my travels and just life in general. I have just recently received some very exciting news about where I will be moving in the fall and am very excited to share it with you guys. I know I have a decent amount of followers by now that aren't just my close friends and family so first let me backtrack for you guys.

Last spring I graduated from Johnson & Whales with my bachelors in Tourism & Hospitality management after living in Providence, RI for three years. Not knowing what I wanted to do right off the bat I decided to jump into a second summer of working for Block Island Resorts on Block Island, Rhode Island. I worked from May until October and saved enough money to sustain quite a bit of traveling.

I decided to take a "gap year" which was more like a gap 6 months over the winter & spring because there was just so much I wanted to do and see and I could finally financially support it & had free time. Also, I had the security that my seasonal job would start again in May and I would be welcomed back, so I took  off.

During this time I traveled by plane throughout the U.S. and lived on a sailboat for 3 months in the Caribbean. I visited NYC, Vegas, Chicago, Alaska, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Martinique, Barbados, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Martinique again, Jacksonville, FL, Philadelphia, and NYC again. Also during this time I spent about a collective 2-3 months with my family on Cape Cod for quality time and various holidays. I am very lucky to have friends scattered across the states and world that have welcomed me into their homes.

Its crazy to think back on all of the amazing times I've had this year. Most people jump right into their careers after graduation, but I think a gap year is completely valid if you can finance it.

Currently, I am back on Block Island for a third summer. Before moving out at the end of May I had a decent amount of quiet time on the Cape to think to myself "okay, so what next..."  After taking this gap year I am feeling very refreshed, relaxed and fulfilled but now I was craving more professional & workplace fulfillment.

I am excited to announce that October first I am starting the EduTerra Global Internship program as an enrollment advisor for Global Leadership Adventures in San Josรฉ Costa Rica. I will be living in a homestay in Costa Rica for a year with the program. You can read more about the position below if you are interested. I am so happy to be apart of this program and embark on my first major international adventure.

So to wrap up here is what you can expect of my blog in the coming months...

For the duration of the summer I will be pretty much stagnant on Block Island. I might do some small trips to music festivals, to see family, etc but for the most part I will not be traveling. My blog may take more of a sustainability, veganism, food & beauty focus.

After Labor Day I will be moving off the island and spending a few days on the Cape before ideally flying to Alaska. During the rest of September I will be taking a road trip from AK to Texas to help my best friend move & have some fun along they way. We definitely plan to stop in Cali but are open to other recommendations!

From Texas I'll be flying out to Costa Rica to start my new job! Expect to see lots of posts about travel in Costa Rica & the surrounding countries.

Thank you guys for joining me on this journey of life, I love sharing it through my blog! What future posts relating to all of this would you like to see? Leave me a comment down below.

Wander often & wonder always
